As much as MNDF, MPS too is integral to national security matters. Besides the current volatility in the security environment of Maldives we have a bigger problem in hand. The rivalry between MPS and MNDF! Each gloating over each's superiority in maintaining and preserving public peace. I personally feel that it was irrational on the part of the government to deploy MNDF to tackle these fights. This never was a matter of national security. The fights could have been dealt with, had MPS acted strategically. MNDF's success in thwarting these fights is questionable! Fights are still going on. No one is bothered to treat the root cause.
